As at home wielding 808 samples as he is crafting genre-defying bangers, Salva is a true musical chameleon. Shooting to prominence off the back of his immense remix of Kanye West’s ‘Mercy’, laid down in collaboration with RL Grime and one of the most viewed tracks on the All Trap Music YouTube channel, Salva brought the trap world to its knees last summer.
As if it needed reinforcing, Salva’s place at the forefront of the trap explosion was cemented as his remix of RL Grime’s ‘Grapes Alla Vodka’ was featured on the madly-anticipated All Trap Music compilation album, he sits alongside such heavyweights as Baauer, Hucci and ƱZ on a collection of ground-shaking anthems. And if his brand-new remix of Jamie Lidell’s ‘What A Shame’, once more with familiar partner-in-crime RL Grime, is anything to go by, the future of trap is safe in Salva’s hands.
But Salva has many more strings to his bow than just trap. Embellishing his other productions with creative samples and a unique approach, his incredible fusion of disparate styles has received plaudits from all areas. His ‘Odd Furniture’ EP, released in February, received rave reviews, and sees him firing on all cylinders, super-powered trap clashing heads with house and much more in a head-spinning tour of his limitless musical imagination that makes for magnetic listening.
Salva’s absolute dedication to originality and the groove has given him a reputation as a fearsome party-starter on the decks, and has seen him spin for BBC R1’s ‘In New DJs We Trust’, as well as secure slots at Red Bull Music Academy’s Culture Clash and a headline US tour. Catch the maverick producer at Detonate on April 26th. You won’t regret it.
