Detonate Present... Beardyman
Posted on Thu 17th Feb, 2011 .
Beardyman must be off his nut; not satisfied with having won the UK beatboxing championships twice in a row, winning best MC at the Breakspoll awards, developing a mind-blowing live dance-music-production system which he uses live, smashing festival main-stages the world over, selling out both his last UK tour and his improvised comedy show at the Edinburgh Fringe 2 years running, he is now re-writing the rule book on what a tour is!
Touring, generally involves performing the same material to many different crowds, quite possibly recording the best one for posterity. Beardyman finds this concept unimaginably boring and instead has decided to make life very hard from himself. Intrigued? Read on.
On Beardymans sold-out Open Sauce tour he invited you, the people of earth, to chip in suggestions for his set-list prior to the gig and you did. You tweeted and facebooked him suggestions of unlikely genres to mash together, subjects for improvised songs, and classic tunes and songs to cover, which he did, using only his mouth and the spaceship, a live-production set-up, packed with looping equipment, sound manipulation tools and synthesizers.
For his new Where are you taking me tour, you can take the show anywhere you choose, in real time! Twitter, Facebook, and text messages will be aggregated live, on the giant screen behind him for him to interact with live and off the cuff. Most of the shows will be streamed live online and people watching on rubbish computer-speakers at home will be able to interact and suggest too, but they wont experience the raw awesomeness or feel the thundering bass shaking their pathetic souls loose. YOU can dictate where the show goes, but Beardy will drive you there in a roller-coaster made of amazing.
What's more, 6 months ago, in response to the constant barrage of demand, Beardy told his fans to start a facebook group if they wanted him to play their city. It was to be the start of his agent's worst nightmare, and has resulted in huge gig bookings from Lithuania to Leicester. Another reason for the title of this groundbreaking tour.
Dogma Presents...New season
Posted on Thu 27th Jan, 2011 .
The new term of Dogma Presents is already underway. Having kicked off with the mighty Logistics, followed by another roadblock session with Dub Police signing Subscape, we're getting ready to welcome Mad Decent's Mumdance tonight.
Dogma presents stepped up a level in 2010 with DJ's as big as Yoda, Zinc, MJ Cole, Netsky, Jack Beats gracing the decks, and it's showing no signs of slowing down in 2011. On 3rd Feb Brazilian legend DJ Marky touches down for what promises to be a huge night. Following weeks see Blame and then Jakes take control.
To get on the guest list text Dogma + your name to 82500 but if you miss it don't worry, it's free before 11pm or just 3 after.
See you there!
